Cafés and Restaurants
Montréal has a well-deserved reputation as one of the liveliest city and thriving foodie scene in North America. Whether you are looking for a quick lunch, a restaurant to meet colleagues, or a pub to discuss your research, you will find plenty of places around the venue to satisfy these needs.
We offer you a selection of close-by and easily accessible options for eating and socializing.
Maps & Useful Information
Taxis
Taxi Coop Montréal, 514 725-9885.
Taxi Diamond, 514 273-6331. Taxi Diamond App is available both for Android and iOS.
NOTE: Taxi drivers normally get a tip of 15% and over.
Bus
The bus network of the Société de transport de Montréal (STM) offers several circuits that can help you quickly reach dining options. Check schedules of buses.
Métro
To access the Conference venue (Berri-UQAM métro station) and for traveling downtown Montréal, the métro is an excellent option. Monday to Friday, it is open from 5:30 am to 12:30 am, and up until 1:00AM on Saturday (after the last metro, you can use the night bus system).
General Tips
(1) Tipping is not included. It is customary to give a 15% tip for service in restaurants and pubs. In fact, most of your waiter(ess)'s salary is tip.
(2)The last train to the Berri-UQAM métro station, next to the venue, is at 0:50.
(3) Easy-access buses will bring you to most dining and socializing locations. Line 55 is northbound on Saint-Laurent Blvd (closest walking distance stop: corner of Saint-Laurent and Sainte-Catherine), and is southbound on Saint-Urbain (closest walking distance stop: corner of Saint-Urbain and Sainte-Catherine). Line 80 is both northbound and southbound on Park Avenue (closest walking distance stop: métro Place-des-Arts).
(4) All East-West streets start their numbering at Saint-Laurent and raise westward and eastward. Addresses west of Saint-Laurent are indicated as O. (Ouest), and all addresses on the east side are indicated as E. (Est). Note that in common Montreal parlance, west and east are not the actual geographic directions but rather the direction of the Saint-Lawrence river, so they are really south-west and north-east, respectively.
